Dr. Elger received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Minnesota in 1971. In 1973 he returned to Muskego and established the Muskego Animal Hospital on Pioneer Drive. In 1978 he built a new facility and moved the practice to its current location on Janesville Road. A second facility was opened in the Wind Lake area in 1981. His philosophy of providing quality care and client education has resulted in a steadily growing practice with 7 doctors, Certified Veterinary Technicians, and 22 other support staff and associates. Dr. Elger was instrumental in establishing the Emergency Veterinary Referral Service in Waukesha. This is the only veterinary emergency service providing critical care for pets in the greater Waukesha area.
Dr. Elger’s favorite aspects of the practice are surgery and his personal contact with his clients. Special interests outside the practice include time spent with family, hunting, fishing, auto racing, and weekly work/leisure trips to his property in the Northwoods.
Dr. Elger has retired from the practice as of April 2018 to enjoy his many outside interests and hobbies.
